The vision
Herefordshire College is at the heart of Hereford, and offers full-time, part-time and higher education courses. Their mission is to equip their students with the practical experience, knowledge and skills to excel in their future careers. The Music Department’s dedication to providing their students with the best tools to unlock their creativity, was the driving force behind introducing Mac into their studios.
Why Mac?
Mac’s powerful processing capabilities and quick to respond interface make it an excellent choice for music making. Music Technology students often work with multiple audio tracks in multiple DAW programmes, requiring demanding processing to ensure they can mix and edit their audio on the fly.
The quick, easy and seamless integration of the Mac studio in their classrooms was also a driving factor behind Herefordshire College’s decision to invest in Mac for their music suites. Already equipped with the free, robust music-making software GarageBand, Mac’s plug-and-play nature makes its introduction into music classrooms effortless. Mac’s complete music-making set up reduces the need for further software purchases and allows students to begin creating using their device instantaneously. Its straightforward deployment allows educators to reduce time wasted on configuring their studio set up, and place their focus where it truly matters – teaching.
Affordability also came into play when Herefordshire College made their decision to adopt Mac suites for the Music Technology department. Mac’s durability means they are able to keep using their devices for a longer time than their PC equivalents, requiring less frequent hardware updates and reducing costs in the long run. Mac is a device you can truly depend on.
