Farleigh School

Farleigh School is a leading Catholic, co-educational prep school, welcoming boarders and day students aged 3 to 13 years. Their ethos focuses on the development of children morally, spiritually, intellectually and culturally. Farleigh School has a deep commitment to providing first class education to their pupils, laying strong foundations for a fulfilling and rewarding life. Albion and Promethean have played a key role in fulfilling that commitment.

Why Promethean ActivPanel?

Having used interactive whiteboards across the school for many years, educators at Farleigh School grew frustrated by continuous problems they were experiencing when operating them. It soon became clear that Farleigh School needed to adopt the same, reliable, user-friendly boards across every classroom to improve efficiency and reduce IT support required. That’s where Albion and Promethean came in.

To ensure they’d make the right decision, Albion worked with Farleigh’s IT department to support an extensive research and trial period, comparing various interactive whiteboards across the market. After rigorous research, teacher and student trials, Promethean ActivPanel emerged as the obvious choice for them.

“Using the panels has been brilliant. Really easy for us”.
– Hannah Grover, Reception Lead, Farleigh School

Empowering teachers

Promethean ActivPanel interactive whiteboards were designed specifically for K12, with a teacher-friendly interface at its core. Teachers at Farleigh School find the boards extremely easy to use, allowing them to gain confidence in their class technology and focus on teaching. The panels’ intuitive interface has significantly reduced IT support ticket requests coming through and improved efficiency throughout the school.

Promethean ActivPanel’s compatibility with Microsoft 365 made the deployment and set up of the boards incredibly easy for Farleigh School. With a very clear and straightforward process, they were able to configure the boards to work with their existing systems.

“I am not good with technology, but I can use this. I feel confident with it, I’m not afraid of it. Occasionally I know one more step than the children”.
– Elizabeth Weager, Music Teacher, Farleigh School

Engaging all year groups

In the younger years, teachers at Farleigh School creatively engage their pre-prep students with drawing. The split screen function provides students with a space to share and collaborate, working on their art side-by-side. Students are also able to take part in interactive games using the panels and learn by engaging in play.

In the older years, the boards are an exciting way for students to engage with the curriculum. In an age where children are so used to screens, Promethean ActivPanel screens present a very visual, accessible way for students to learn. The annotation feature makes it easy for teachers to highlight information in the teaching materials and add additional information where necessary. Students can complete interactive exercises together using the panels, improving focus and fostering collaboration.

“It makes the learning more exciting”.
– Wendy Prior, KS2 Teacher, Farleigh School

Learning made accessible

For SEND students, the Promethean ActivPanel boards have been particularly useful at Farleigh School. Dyslexic students are able to adjust the size of various elements on the screen, adjust line thickness and change background colours to accommodate their needs and engage with the curriculum fully. The boards have also really helped students who struggle with crossing the midline and gross motor skills at Farleigh School. Using the boards has provided them with the opportunity to refine some of those skills and improve their writing, particularly in the younger years.

“I think the panels are great for children that have learning needs”.
– Wendy Prior, KS2 Teacher, Farleigh School
