Apple in education may boost the prospects of youngsters
Tuesday, May 1st, 2012To run any kind of educational institution well, it’s vital to keep pace with developments in society and technology and, with this in mind, you’re no doubt keen to ensure the students who attend your school or other such establishment have access to the best computing equipment.
After all, being able to use a computer these days is akin to literacy and numeracy. Those who lack the ability to utilise technology can encounter a range of difficulties.
Sourcing the best IT solutions
Among the best products on the market are those produced by Apple. The technology giant has a knack for making user-friendly, fun and effective computers that are ideal for students to use. One of the skills that utilising Apple in education may allow youngsters to develop is coding.
According to John Naughton, professor of the public understanding of technology at the Open University, all children should be taught how to code.
Writing in the Guardian, he suggested there’s a growing consensus that the way kids are taught IT needs a “radical overhaul”. He noted that a number of bodies, including the Royal Society, the Association for Learning Technology and Computing at School, have published reports to this effect.
Changes afoot
Meanwhile, he added that education secretary Michael Gove made an “enigmatic speech” during a recent technology conference indicating that a rethink is taking place concerning this issue.
Commenting on the demand for tech-savvy individuals, Mr Naughton said: “Universities want to reverse the decline in applicants for computer science courses. Gaming companies want more programmers. The government wants more high-tech start-ups. Manufacturers want trainees who can design embedded systems. And head teachers want bigger budgets for even more computer labs. And so on.”
An impassioned plea
The expert went further, making an emotive statement concerning the significance of technology in education.
He claimed that the greatest justification for change isn’t economic but moral. He commented: “If we don’t act now we will be short-changing our children. They live in a world that is shaped by physics, chemistry, biology and history, and so we – rightly – want them to understand these things. But their world will be also shaped and configured by networked computing and if they don’t have a deeper understanding of this stuff then they will effectively be intellectually crippled.”

This is one of the reasons why Apple in education is so important. By introducing children to funky and useful items like iPads, MacBooks, iMacs and so on, teachers can ignite an interest and passion in technology that lasts for a lifetime. Being adept when it comes to using computers can significantly boost the prospects of students. They’re more likely to be desirable among employers when they’re older and they might even go on to forge a whole career in IT.
On the other hand, if children aren’t exposed to the relevant gadgets and systems when they’re at school, they might be unable to exploit the opportunities that come their way.

This has a lot to do with the captivating effect of the technology giant’s products. They can be used in many different ways and seem to bring learning to life. They’re designed to encourage people to interact with them and are enjoyable and rewarding to control.

Firing the imaginations of youngsters with Apple technology
Thursday, March 8th, 2012When youngsters are at school, they can be likened to sponges, soaking up new information and skills. However, all too often pupils fail to tap into their full potential in traditional educational environments. In some cases, this is due to boredom and the fact that they do not feel engaged by the way in which facts are conveyed to them.
If this disinterest persists throughout much of their educations, they can end up suffering hugely negative consequences that last for their entire lifetimes.
However, there are ways in which teachers can boost their chances of capturing the imaginations of students. For example, if you are involved in schools, you might benefit from considering the role of Apple in education.
The technology firm is renowned for its quirky, intuitive and highly interactive devices and, when used in certain ways, they can be ideal as a means of furthering people’s learning. There is something magical about many of the devices that captivates youngsters and helps to focus their minds and powers of intellect.
By bringing in Apple Mac for students and introducing them to various exercises and so on, you might be able to get youngsters onside more easily and find a way to motivate them successfully.
And the great news is, thanks to firms like us here at Albion Computers, getting Apple products for schools is now easier and more cost effective than ever before. Furthermore, we offer Apple support to ensure you are not stumped by any technical problems you experience.
Making the Most of iPad Technology for Education
Sunday, January 22nd, 2012
A couple of decades ago, schools didn’t even have internet in them. Nowadays, computers and internet technology are a vital part of school life and education. Children are exposed to information technology from an early age, and are brought up learning how to use computers and other gadgets and gizmos both in the classroom and at home. If they haven’t already, many schools, colleges and universities will start using the iPad for education because of its major benefits for increasing learning.
Children learn best through doing and the interactive nature of the iPad is ideal for this purpose. Plus the thousands of apps available through the App Store give children other ways of learning as well. For older children and teenagers, the iPad can be used for projects due to its transportable nature. Certain subjects promote the use of photography and film to document certain projects, and this nifty little gadget allows greater flexibility of both by having the internet on hand at the same time.
Particularly for schools which already use Apple for education, the benefits of doing so will already be obvious. If you need Apple support for introducing the iPad into your school or college’s system, here at Albion Computers we can help with everything you need. We have supplied and supported Apple products to schools and colleges for over 20 years and our professionals are not only experts in Apple products, but also in how these can be used and incorporated into a learning environment.
